My First Quilt!

It's finally finished! My very first quilt! I'm super excited and, I'll admit, a bit proud of it! It's definitely far from perfect, but I'm happy with it. As is Beckham. Luckily babies aren't picky.

It's made of that super-soft Minkee fabric, so it's very cozy. Actually a bit heavy for this time of year, but it's a great size to lay on the floor for Beckham to play on, and I think it will make a good crib blanket once he is a bit older.

Sure glad I spent hours on this so the cat can enjoy it.

I just love these fabrics!! And they are soooo soft! I got this in a kit at the Craft Warehouse warehouse sale (boy, that sounds weird), regular price $35, but I only paid $12! Great price for all that Minkee.

And the back, also Minkee. I didn't use any batting because this fabric is so heavy, so that made it easier!  But wow, was binding it tricky! I knew nothing about quilting before I started, so I watched a bunch of tutorial videos online to figure out how to finish the thing. The corners were the hardest.

But they turned out pretty good! I'm kinda hooked now, and ready to make another one. But with different fabric; the Minkee is gorgeous but really hard to sew! It slips constantly.
My husband is going to divorce me if I make any more trips to the fabric store anytime soon though, so I might be waiting a while.
I have a couple other sewing projects I've been working on as well, so those will keep me busy!

It looks great! Bah, that minkee. I used it for the kids' Halloween costumes last year. I found that fuzz all over the place for weeks. Never again! :)

Oh, my goodness, I know what you mean! I had to vacuum up those fuzzies so many times! Glad it's done!

I can't wait to see this in person! It's beautiful, but the picture probably doesn't do it justice :) I'll take one in queen size, please!
